The process for purchasing entails submitting an offer and pay 10% down payment, Town staff publish the offer in a public announcement in a newspaper and in three physical locations at least 30 days before the close. During the 30 day period, the sale can be objected to by any member of the general public if they obtain signatures on a petition of 5% of the legal voters of the Town. If there is no petition, after 30 days, the Select Board will vote on the sale at a duly warned special or regular Select Board meeting. The vote is binding.
